Industry
Customers require ISO 9001, supplier quality is audited down the chain, and ISO 9001:2026 starts a three-year transition.
For most manufacturers ISO 9001 is a condition of supply. The work that matters is process-based: how orders become products, how nonconformities are contained and corrected, how suppliers are approved and monitored. Where engineering data or connected production systems are sensitive, ISO 27001 follows - sometimes as one integrated system.
Sector risks
Nonconformities closed with rework and retraining, and the same defect back next quarter because the cause was never found.
Approved supplier lists built on questionnaires, with no audit or performance data behind them.
Work instructions that describe how the process ran three revisions ago.
Evidence
ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026. Accredited certification bodies have a three-year transition: new certifications are issued only to the 2026 edition from 31 March 2028, and all certificates must transition by 30 September 2029. Plan the move around your recertification date rather than at the last surveillance visit.
